CLASSICAL MUSIC HELP!!!!! I’M DESPERATE!!!?

October 312009

I’m a college student, majoring in elementary education. I’m currently working on a lesson plan incorporating music into basic content area. The lesson I created is a science lesson in which first graders listen to a classical music piece and decide which weather pattern the piece can be associated with. I NEED MUSIC!

I need a classical piece that can represent sunny weather, I was thinking of Boccherini string quartet in E minor for that one

A piece that represents hurricanes/tornadoes/harsh weather…..??? ANY SUGGESTIONS?

A piece that represents rain, something calm and slow….??? ANY SUGGESTIONS????

and something that represents an overcast day… maybe a little sun, maybe a little rain…. ANY SUGGESTIONS???

This lesson plan is due tomorrow so I need to find the songs ASAP

ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATEDDDD
ahhh vivaldi= genius can’t believe i didn’t think of it THANK YOU!!!

Will enumerate your requests(not listing #-1, for "sunny" - the Vivaldi should be fine.

What would be a good name for a guitar lesson "business"?

October 312009

I am brainstorming good names for a little mini-business through which I give guitar lessons. I just need the name for flyers, an email address/website, and to seem more professional.

I’d like it to include "Guitar Lessons" but that’s not totally necessary.

I like "Virtuoso Guitar Lessons" but honestly, I question certain people’s ability to spell that.

Ideas? The more the better. Thanks!

Just a couple of ideas which spring to mind - some variations on virtuoso:

mr maestro guitar lessons
guitar guru
expert guitar tuition
master guitar lessons
champion guitarist
supreme guitar lessons
genius on guitar
guitar mastery
guitar lesson prowess
guitar wizardry
gifted guitar lessons
guitar finesse

Hope this helps - perhaps you can mix and match to suit. Good luck with your venture.

Jean.

I need to find some good resources, hopefully lesson plans, for outcomes based education?

October 312009

Obviously systems around the world would be different, but I am looking for fun activities for 10-12 year olds.

I am a student teacher, doing my second practicum, but am having a lot of trouble thinking up ideas. When I look through resource books, there seems to be a lot of poor material!!!

If anyone can help by telling me some good ideas for the following.

Maths - space, choosing the right operations, percentages, fractions.

English - Persuasive writing, different texts/visual texts

Science - luckily I don’t have any, but anything helps.

Reading - good ideas for comprehension, any online resources?

I know this is a lot to ask, but I am good at many things, just haven’t been exposed to much interesting stuff yet!!!! Thanks everybody for your help!!

These are just a few. If you do a search for "lesson plans" you will literally find millions. The best thing I have found to do is find one you like and the make a few changes here and there…just small ones, so it suits your students needs and interests.

They key thing at this age is to make it "cool"…its the easiest way to motivated them. If you can incorporate some type of pop culture into it they will love it. I am a young teacher and you probably being young makes them think they are doing something that it really cool because you think its cool as well.

Good Luck

Lesson plan idea for science in first grade using the learning cycle method? Help?

October 312009

I need to write a lesson plan for the 1st grade using the learning cycle method, which is also called the 5E’s method. It has to be about science. any website ideas that may help?

Teacher.net is a good resource for lesson plans and lesson plan ideas.

See the two links below for ideas on 5E lesson plans. These lessons were used in a 3rd grade class, so they are likely too advanced, but they may give you ideas or could be modified.

I plan on teaching next year and have a question about lesson plans.?

October 312009

I am so excited about teaching and have many wonderful plans for my students. My only concern is how do you come up with so many lesson plans as a first year teacher? If I could just get this aspect of teaching I should be good to go. Not sure why this is making me so nervous. Thank you for any insight or advice.

Lesson planning was my most time-consuming task when I started teaching. So you’re smart to start thinking about where all of those plans will come from.

Certainly teachers teaching the same subject(s)/grade level you teach will be a valuable source. So making associations with similar teachers, regardless of the schools they work at, will be very valuable to you.

To start, identify the units you will be teaching. Plug the lessons you already have into those units. Then you’ll have a good idea of what you still need.

In addition to other teachers, your state’s education website and other lesson planning websites have excellent resources.

I’ve written up a list of the top 12 websites I’ve used for lesson planning. You’ll find reviews and links to them here:

http://www.squidoo.com/Lesson-planning

Many subject-matter websites for kids also have lesson plans and activities for teachers. There is an extensive listing on LearningReviews.com. The left-side menu guides you to the subject area, and to Teacher Tools, with many more lesson planning resources:

Good luck with your first year!

Can you please critique my resume?

What age can my son start with drum lessons?

October 292009

Posted in lessons | 4 Comments »

My son will be 4 years old on Sept. 1st and is very interested in taking drum lessons with the drum player at church. He is so totally in love with this guy. During church this guy will let my son sit on stage with him and watch him play and it is the highlight of my son’s day.
Is 4 too young for drum lessons?

My little brother has been playing his whole life. he hasn’t started lessons yet but by 13 or 14 he will be amazing(but not as good as me ;)
