How many driving lessons did you have before you passed your test?

My 17th birthday is in a week and i’ve saved up a bit of money for lessons and car neccesities but i looked at the DVLA web page and it said i need an average of 45 lessons. At like about £20 a lesson that’s just too much for me.

Were they right about that number or can it be done with a lot less paid lessons just home practise?

You are required to have a certain amount of hours behind the wheel before you take the test.
You don’t have to pay a driving school to have all the hours.
Just drive with a 21yr old license driver and document the amount of hours you’ve driven, but I do suggest you spend at least 6hrs. behind the wheel with a certified driving instructor, that will also help reduce your insurance rates.

What type of game explains a poem while involving others in the lesson?

I can’t seem to get my creative juices flowing at the moment, and I need to come up with some sort of simple-ish game that can explain a poem( who the speaker is, tone/mood, summary, theme, symbolism, ect), but the game has to invlove a class of students. I was thinking throwing a ball or having food rewards, but I don’t know what I would do to teach the lesson

It all depends on the age of your students. However, try this: put all the elements you want to discuss into a hat/box/can and pass this to one of your students…they pull out the piece of paper and read the element (tone, summary, theme, form, etc.) then try to answer the question. If they can’t answer it, the paper is passed to the next student, and the next, until someone can answer it. If nobody can answer it, the original student keeps the piece of paper and the can moves to the next student…after the teacher explains the answer…if one of the students answers the question, they keep the paper and pull out the next one. The game continues until all the pieces of paper are gone, and the winner (soda, apple, whatever) is the one with the most pieces of paper. This can be modified so anyone with a piece of paper get a prize, a star, whatever, and many poems can be used to increase the number of pieces of paper. The winner may result from several days worth of gaming, or each day. Also, after each question has been answered, the teacher would provide amplification on the answer provided by the student along with explanations as to how that part contributes to the overall nature of the poem. Oh…and of course, the can gets refilled for each poem.

hope this helps.

What is the best online guitar lesson?

December 272009

i dont care if you have to pay for it.

thanks!

More information is needed here. What is it you are looking to learn? Are you a total beginner that doesn’t know how to play at all? Are you already playing and looking to expand? Without knowing this, there isn’t really anyway to help you. You need to give us some background about your goals and your current level and what it is you are looking to learn. Also, is there a particular reason you are limiting yourself to online only?

My advice given what little I have to go on is try Youtube.com. There are all kinds of lessons on there.

How Many objectives should there be for each Lesson Plan?

December 272009

How many objectives are there for a lesson plan.

no more than two, because students get frustrated copying out too many objectives and not doing the actual work.

Should I be a veterinarian or a teacher?

December 212009

I don’t know what to choose. I would love to help animals. I love them but i don’t think i can put them to sleep without crying and i am allergic to cats all though i can take medicine for that. I would love to be a teacher. A language art and social studies teacher for 5,6,or 7th grade. I don’t know if lesson planning and stuff like that would be hard though. Anyone who is a teacher or a vet or neither please tell me how these jobs are and what i should do. Thanks

I suggest that you take an aptitude test. An aptitude test assesses your skills and your interests and matches you to the careers that are right for you.
Check with the high school adviser for one or your college/university (they have some awesome tests). Or, failing those, go to the workforce development agency (unemployment office) One really good one is called JobFit. Beware of the internet scams.
Once you take the test it will help identify careers that take little or no education clear up to a doctorate. Hope this helps.

Is it possible to find good acoustic guitar lessons on the internet?

December 212009

Posted in lessons | 4 Comments »

I want to get acoustic guitar lessons but with my current crazy time-shifting job it is impossible for me to be available during decent hours. I have heard there are video lessons on the Internet but I would like to get feedback from someone who tried it.

There are video courses available that you can pause and replay when and as often as you want. It is a definite advantage over a teacher who will be available for only an hour or so at the time and that you will have to pay by the hour.

What lesson can the world learn from Gandhi?
Why is this an important lesson?
How might this lesson change the world for future generations?

Thank you.

If the world says, "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, we would all wind up blind and toothless."

Should I ask the teacher at my lesson what guitar I should get?

December 162009

Should I go to my first guitar lesson with a guitar, or should ask them what guitar to get?

You should show up with a guitar. Try calling your instructor for advice before your lesson and get some tips. Also when you go to a music shop the people who work there are usually pretty knowledgeable and can help you get fitted with the right one for you. There’s lots of options so it’s important to ask lots of questions just like you’re doing now!

good luck with your first lesson!

What are some good topics for science lesson plans for 4th-6th graders.?

December 162009

I am doing a college project on creating 3 lesson plans on science topics for 4th-6th graders.

What areas in science do this students learn at those grade levels.

Does anyone have any ideas of science topics that students at those ages would enjoy; such as something I can be creative in.

Well in 6th grade you learn about the Earth’s surface, Matter and Energy, the earths atmosphere, and space…
