For my child development class, we are to make a lesson plan for the preschoolers. The activity is supposed to be Math and the theme for that month is Farm Animals.
Any suggestions?? I’ve looked online but I just can’t seem to find any good ones!

With the farm animal theme you could:
have the children sort plastic animals. There are a ton of ways to sort them:
by color
by type
hair/feathers
number of legs
lay eggs or not
You can create sequencing cards, like an egg, baby chick, then chicken.
They can count plastic animals.
You can have the children sort seeds in a muffin tin according to type.
Stamping Patterns
Use farm animal rubber stamps to create a simple pattern on the top half of a piece of paper. Ask your child to help you recreate the patterm on the bottom half of the paper. Tip: Start with one stamp, and have your child pick which stamp you used. Start slowly and work your way up to more complicated patterns.
How Many Kernels?
Place some popcorn kernels into a clear plastic container. Have the children guess how many kernels are in the container. Record each child guess. Then count them together.
Hot Potato

Play hot potato with the children. Have the children sit in a circle. You can pick an object to be the potato or play with a real one. Sing "Hot Potato, Hot Potato, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10." The child that has the potato on ten goes in the center of the circle, called the pot.
Five little Ducks
Five little ducks, went out to play (hold up five fingers)
over the hills, and far away, (hold hand to eyebrows)
When the mother duck went "Quack Quack Quack"
(motion "quack" with your hand)
Four little Ducks came waddling back.
(make wings with arms and move elbows up and down)
Continue to count down until there are no little ducks then sing:
No little ducks went out to play,
Over the hills and far away,
When the mother duck went "QUACK, QUACK, QUACK,"
Five little ducks came waddling back.
Potatoes
One potato, two potato,
Three potato, four,
Five potato, six potato,
Seven potato, more!
Muffin Math Center
Place pieces of paper numbered 1 through 6 in the bottom on a muffin tin. Supply the children with many beans or plastic farm animals to place in the tins. They will place one object in the "1" tin and two in the "2" and so on. The items you use can be theme based or items from your class such as toy animals, beads, blocks, counting chips, dry pasta.
You can have the children place the plastic farm animals in order from smallest to largest.
