what do you take to your first guitar lesson?

Im starting my first beginner acoustic guitar lesson the coming wednesday. I have NO IDEA what im supposed to take for my lesson besides my guitar, HELP!

Take a few dollars in case you need to buy a book but apart from that just take your guitar

I have an acoustic guitar and has couple of books to teach myself a guitar, however, I have not yet learned how to play. I have learned about 10 chords, but knowing these chords does not make me a guitar player….. I have been thinking of taking a guitar lesson, is it worth it?

Guitar lessons (not just one lesson) are totally worth it. Statistics show that 90% of people who try to teach themselves, fail. If you’re serious about learning to play the guitar, take lessons. Good luck.

I’m really horrible at teaching math and coming up with lesson plans and activities. I had the clever idea of observing different teachers at the same school, using their materials and lesson ideas. Basically I’ll do student teaching in 3rd period which is only one period a day. Next semester I have to do 3 periods of student teaching. Now I’m wondering I can observe my master teacher and other teachers and taking great notes, using their materials, create my own lesson plans. In theory, student teaching would be easier because I’m emulating a teacher a period or two before taking over a class a period ahead. This idea is that you can learn to be a master teacher by carefully watching your master teacher even during the same day you’ll student teach.

I know this is not what you want to hear, but you really need to try and come up with your own lesson plans. Even if they are not air tight, you’re lucky right now because you’re still a student and can make mistakes and ask questions without looking like an idiot.

Me, I fudged my way through a lot of my student teaching and then, when I was alone in the classroom just me and 25 second graders, I was totally lost. I had no clue how to write effective lesson plans and basically I had to learn how to do it and show my plans to the grade level chair once a week for almost 3 months of teaching.

You can LOOK at the teacher’s lesson plans, but please love, write your own.

I have an assignment to create a mini lesson plan for 7th grade math that centers around the French Revolution?

This is a "team teaching" activity and the thematic union is the French Revolution. I have to some how relate that to math. Any body have any ideas??

Find some statistics about the revolution (how many people fought at various times, how many people supported each side, etc) and have the students practice putting data into graph form.

Do any california textbooks for math come with lesson plans. If so, I’d like to know which ones they are.?

They all do.

The lesson plans are not in the actual books, but in the supplementary materials given to the schools who purchase the books. I get a dvd (they also supply a box with printed copies) every year that holds lesson plans, assessments, auxialiary materials - its quite a bit.

I never use them. My lessons are crafted to my kids needs, not to some arbitrary timeline or pacing plan - so I create my own.

Looking for a Preschool Math lesson plan.?

For my child development class, we are to make a lesson plan for the preschoolers. The activity is supposed to be Math and the theme for that month is Farm Animals.
Any suggestions?? I’ve looked online but I just can’t seem to find any good ones!

With the farm animal theme you could:
have the children sort plastic animals. There are a ton of ways to sort them:
by color
by type
hair/feathers
number of legs
lay eggs or not

You can create sequencing cards, like an egg, baby chick, then chicken.

They can count plastic animals.

You can have the children sort seeds in a muffin tin according to type.

Stamping Patterns
Use farm animal rubber stamps to create a simple pattern on the top half of a piece of paper. Ask your child to help you recreate the patterm on the bottom half of the paper. Tip: Start with one stamp, and have your child pick which stamp you used. Start slowly and work your way up to more complicated patterns.

How Many Kernels?
Place some popcorn kernels into a clear plastic container. Have the children guess how many kernels are in the container. Record each child guess. Then count them together.

Play hot potato with the children. Have the children sit in a circle. You can pick an object to be the potato or play with a real one. Sing "Hot Potato, Hot Potato, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10." The child that has the potato on ten goes in the center of the circle, called the pot.

Five little Ducks
Five little ducks, went out to play (hold up five fingers)
over the hills, and far away, (hold hand to eyebrows)
When the mother duck went "Quack Quack Quack"
(motion "quack" with your hand)

Muffin Math Center
Place pieces of paper numbered 1 through 6 in the bottom on a muffin tin. Supply the children with many beans or plastic farm animals to place in the tins. They will place one object in the "1" tin and two in the "2" and so on. The items you use can be theme based or items from your class such as toy animals, beads, blocks, counting chips, dry pasta.

You can have the children place the plastic farm animals in order from smallest to largest.

I am a student at college studying to be a teacher. On friday I am doing a math lesson that has to do with measurement however I want it to be hands on and have to do with Halloween. I was thinking of doing a lesson where students have to create a costume for a cut-out person by following directions where they have to measure.However I am stuck on what else to do like how to start it and what I should have the students do. Any ideas?

Title for research paper (Lesson plans for Kindergartners)?

I’m required to write a research paper for school which includes lesson plans for teachers. These lesson plans are for M-F and each day is a different lesson plan based on the subject of math/measurement. My instructor stated that my title of the paper was general. What can I title my paper? I want something really neat. What I did have was these two:

Math Lesson Plans for Kindergartners and Lesson Plans for Kindergartners. I’d like to use something more creative. Any ideas?
