Typing Lesson

My boyfriend speaks very little English and it makes it hard for him to learn guitar with the DVDs I originally got him. Where can I find some DVDs for guitar lessons in Spanish? I don’t mind paying for the program, but I want to know it’s in Spanish so he can understand, and it’s quality material so that he will learn from them.

I HAVE A GUITAR AND I REALLY WANT TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY IT BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT TO PAY FOR LESSONS OR WHAT IS GOOD PRICE OR A RIP OFF ANY ONE KNOW ?

Last time I took guitar lessons in 1998 I paid $60.00 a month or $15.00 for each 30 minute lesson. I have been checking a school of music 45 miles from me and they charge $90.00 a month for a one hour lesson a week and that is a group lesson.

I’m going to my first guitar lesson today! I was just wondering is there was anything I should know. I already know most major chords and one minor chord,and my fingers have toughened up(laugh). So should I just go with the flow or say anything that should be said? Thanks for your advice,

you don’t need to know anything. your teacher will assume you don’t know much. i take semi-private lessons with an instructor in her home and i think that lessons are well worth it. your teacher will be able to give you much more advice than you could ever give yourself.

You never know. Many teachers have different approaches.

Hopefully your teacher will teach you all of the parts of the guitar, correct posture, how to hold a pic, how to tune, etc.

From there teachers either go into standard notation (reading music), TABs, or chords. If they go into reading music, you’re in for a very long year without much progress. If they go into TABs, that’s better. You’ll learn things more quickly, but you’ll only learn a limited number of things if they only stay with TABs. If you start learning chords, you’ll be able to strum through songs the quickest.

I personally like to hit the basics and jump into chords as soon as I can with a student so that they can start playing though songs as quickly as possible. I use my whole method at my site: http://guitarmann.com

More information is needed here. What is it you are looking to learn? Are you a total beginner that doesn’t know how to play at all? Are you already playing and looking to expand? Without knowing this, there isn’t really anyway to help you. You need to give us some background about your goals and your current level and what it is you are looking to learn. Also, is there a particular reason you are limiting yourself to online only?

My advice given what little I have to go on is try Youtube.com. There are all kinds of lessons on there.

I love country music and would like to learn to play only a little country music on the guitar.

You should show up with a guitar. Try calling your instructor for advice before your lesson and get some tips. Also when you go to a music shop the people who work there are usually pretty knowledgeable and can help you get fitted with the right one for you. There’s lots of options so it’s important to ask lots of questions just like you’re doing now!
