Typing Lesson

I am trying to teach beginner guitar lessons locally, however I’m not very sure what is the best way to go about advertising, Ive never done something like this so I have no clue where to start. Ive already posted and ad on craigslist, but what are other ways I can get more exposure? Any other websites or good places locally I can post fliers? Much appreciated!

Just post them next to any local guitars & musical instruments shop, since beginners will buy guitars & they’ll find the lessons post

So I have been playing guitar for 8 years and am somewhat good. I play fingerstyle stuff on my classical guitar.

Tonight I am going in for my first lesson… Feeling sort of nervous. What should I expect? What should I say? I don’t really know what songs I want to learn because I’ve been in a music rut lately

How did you pick your teacher? If not careful you’re going to know more than your new “teacher”.

I would recommend demanding two free lessons from prospective teachers, expecting to audition several before selecting one.

Don’t be nervous, you’re interviewing the instructor – he/she is undergoing a job interview!

Ask the instructor their specialty. Request a short performance. Is this something you would like to learn?

You play a classical guitar and looking for advanced lessons. Unless you’re seeking classical guitar lessons, it’s not likely the instructor will bring a classical guitar to the first lesson. Would be helpful if he/she owned one to instruct you.

So I told my friend I could give him some guitar lessons and teach him the fundamentals of guitar. How should I start this? He doesn’t know any scales or that kind of stuff, but what kind of scales should I start him out with?
Pretty much he’s a guitarist who’s learned everything from online tabs. What can I teach him that’s not note reading?

Well if he has technique down good enough, that’s a good start. Unfortunately, people who do this are often unwilling to learn the ‘basics.’

Start by making sure he knows the notes on the neck; sharps, flats, etc. If that’s good, start with the minor pentatonic scales. Those are definitely the most used, they’re easy, and sound great!

Depending how much you know, you can teach him different things about theory like harmony, etc.

I am a complete beginner; my acoustic guitar has sat in my room without any playing. If you know of good lesson/ tutorial videos for beginners, please link them below. DFTBA

Guitar lesson was looking around for these but see a lot online but not sure if worthwhile online or is better personally as I guess is a bit like learning a language online is not always the best option is it, any ideas?

Well there are heaps of online classes to choose from and aren’t that hard to find but I guess most are average to pricey. I see some have suggested teaching yourself and so on with youtube also a good method, but could take ages depending on the type of learner you are, some get it real quick while others don’t. Obviously one on one training would be the best method but I would imagine very pricey also but would be the best way by miles. Good luck and oh! May I also suggest having a look at the source below for ideas.

Im starting my first beginner acoustic guitar lesson the coming wednesday. I have NO IDEA what im supposed to take for my lesson besides my guitar, HELP!

Take a few dollars in case you need to buy a book but apart from that just take your guitar

I have an acoustic guitar and has couple of books to teach myself a guitar, however, I have not yet learned how to play. I have learned about 10 chords, but knowing these chords does not make me a guitar player….. I have been thinking of taking a guitar lesson, is it worth it?

Guitar lessons (not just one lesson) are totally worth it. Statistics show that 90% of people who try to teach themselves, fail. If you’re serious about learning to play the guitar, take lessons. Good luck.

My boyfriend speaks very little English and it makes it hard for him to learn guitar with the DVDs I originally got him. Where can I find some DVDs for guitar lessons in Spanish? I don’t mind paying for the program, but I want to know it’s in Spanish so he can understand, and it’s quality material so that he will learn from them.
