Any ideas?

Title for research paper (Lesson plans for Kindergartners)?

January 62011

I’m required to write a research paper for school which includes lesson plans for teachers. These lesson plans are for M-F and each day is a different lesson plan based on the subject of math/measurement. My instructor stated that my title of the paper was general. What can I title my paper? I want something really neat. What I did have was these two:

Math Lesson Plans for Kindergartners and Lesson Plans for Kindergartners. I’d like to use something more creative. Any ideas?

thanx!

I heard on the NPR (National Public Radio) the other day that most teachers graduated at the bottom of their classes. This gives that statement credence! What kind of question is that to ask at Yahoo Answers?!

How long does it take to write a math lesson?

January 22011

For my Senior project I need 20 hours of work, and I am going to write up a math lesson, ,teach it to a class, and then grade the work. How long does it take to grade about…30-50 math papers, and write up a lesson plan? And any tips FOR writing a lesson plan and making a power point? I will have a mentor, but additional advice is always needed and welcomed :)
One minute or less per question.
About thirty to sixty minutes of teaching time.
About 15-60 minutes to grade each paper.
Your education course books have examples of how to make a lesson plan, and you’ve been taught how to create a powerpoint presentation. Just break everything down into small tasks so it doesn’t look so overwhelming and give yourself enough time to do a good job on these things. Rely on the things you have been taught, use your teaching philosophy and things should go very well.

Any suggestions for innovative, fun lesson plans, pertaining to grade 10 applied math?

December 312010

I am a grade 11 peer tutor, and my culminating project is to teach a lesson in front of the entire class, or with a group. It needs to keep the attention of the students.

Any ideas?:)

Make the lesson something they can relate to.

If the kids in your area are big music fans, try applying your lesson to the music business — percentage of record sales to tell who’s got the biggest fan base, etc. Use specific examples of current popular music labels and acts.

If they’re more into movies, try calculations of which movie/actor/actress will win the Oscars based on how many votes each one got (when each vote counts as a different percentage).

One that always worked for me was MONEY. Give them a problem involving their own (pretend) money, and suddenly math becomes a lot more personal ;)

Is there any california middle school math textbook that comes with lesson plans?

December 292010

I believe the Glencoe series has been approved in California. It has some limited lesson plans, but mostly these are what we teachers call "mini-lesson" plans.

I am a MI resident. Where can I find 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade math lesson plans?

Most homeschoolers use a math curriculum that comes with the lesson plans plus worksheets.

My kids use Alpha Omega Life Pacs for Math. You can buy it online.

What can I do on a Math lesson plan about farm for preschoolers?

December 252010

I am taking a ECI class at NAU. I need to do a lesson plan on math, reading and another one on writing (all about farm). I have no Idea of what to do. Everybody in my class have already done one (or more) and they have more experience, but I defenitely do not know how to even start one. :( I need help please!!!

Make a maze on a piece of paper, and draw a barn at the end of the maze. Use toy farm animals as game pieces, and have the kids work to get their farm animal to the barn by rolling a dice and moving the appropriate number of spaces.

You can make your own dice with paper. On each side, print a number and underneath each number, draw dots (for instance, on one side draw a large 1 with one dot underneath, on another side, draw a 2 with two big dots underneath, and so on…) that way, the kids that are not sure how to recognize numbers yet can count the dots.

Don’t worry about lesson planning, once you get the hang of it, it’s a snap! :)

I need a GOOD preschool math lesson plan. I’ve looked online and haven’t found any I like.?

The lesson should be about thirty minutes long. Also keep in mind it is March, so the children are almost ready for Kindergarten. Thank you!
In response to Andy Y, this is for a preschool class. I am looking for some interesting ideas for my preschool class, as I am getting bored with lessons I’ve given in years past. I’ve also worked with many of the same colleagues for a few years now, and we’ve all shared ideas. I was just looking for some fresh new ideas that I may not have heard of. Thanks.

Cook with the class: measurement is math!

A lot of basic addition is done with counters, but if you have access to a water table, you can have them pour water tinted with food coloring into graduated cylinders to test the answer to 3+2=? (fill a cup to the number three with water and another clear measuring cup to two and pour them in together and have someone read the answer).

Sorting is also a math skill, so you can give them a variety of items and have them put them into groups or sort items and have them guess why you grouped them together (eg. the same buttons might be sorted by color, shape, size, number of holes, etc.)

Give them each rulers and teach them to identify a foot and then have them search around the room for things that are less than a foot, about a foot, or more than a foot long and share their answers.
