    I just happened to listen to what the instructor said about “G” Tuning @ 3:17 so thats my bad! I just think that for demonstartive purposes its played this way for people who aren’t familiar with the “G” tuning style of playing.

    what the heck are you talking about? the thing on his finger is called a slide… and no even with any gear you cant get the sound he’s getting without a slide. You can get the tone but you cant get the sound.

    thats guitar mag, meaning it was transcribed by someone else not billy gibbons. if you find the guitar player zz top edition with like 8 of their songs they have stories on each song and billy says “we decided to use open G on this tune to get the slide feeling”

    What are you talking about? Just checked tab in guitar mag and mentions nothing about “G” tuning .However, there are 5 guitar parts to the studio version with fills and rhythm.

    Yeah, I saw that, would take a little getting used to it. There is a device out there that will hold a slide on the mic stand which would help.

    Check out some live videos of the song. Billy has the slide sitting on a small stand somewhere on stage and put’s it on before the solo. He also puts on his middle finger, not his ring finger like in this video
