What age can you start swimming lessons?
March 252010
I am not expecting my daughter to be able to swim alone or super well at her age (almost 2). But I think she would love swim lessons. She loves the water. In the bath tub she lays on her stomach holding herself up with her arms, kicks her legs (like she is swimming) she also loves to put her face in the water and blows bubbles. Does anyone know what age I can put her in swim lessons (of course I know I will be in the water with her)
Thanks! I will probably look into getting her into lessons this summer!
My son is in swimming lessons. They start it at 6 months but the 6 months-2 yrs is done with the parent in the water as well. After that they are just with the teacher. That’s how they do it at my son’s anywho)

"Real" swimming lessons here start at age 2…the parents are not in the water with the kids. The kids stand on chairs at the edge of the pool while the instructors rotate between the kids.

We’ve been going to Mommy & Me Swimming lessons with our 1 year old. We’re onto the second session and already seeing good progress. We’re hoping he’ll be water safe by the end of this summer. We have our own pool and play at the lake quite a bit, so hopefully he’ll have lots of practice and do well with good swimming techniques by the age of 2 or 3.
Best Wishes!
