Jim Greer STILL Skeptical Of Obama’s School Speech
September 102009
Florida Republican Party Chairman Jim Greer, who was one of the most vehement critics of President Obama’s speech to schoolchildren upon its announcement, complete with “lesson plans,” appeared on “The Situation Room” on the day the text of the speech has been released - sans lesson plans - and said that he hasn’t changed his mind as a concerned parent, though he did say at the end that his own kids will be watching the President’s speech, “as I hope all kids will.”
He also said that it is “an upbeat speech, but is it the one the President was always going to give?”
“It was never about the President speaking to children about the importance of education,” Greer added. “It was about the White House writing lesson plans.”
Though a bit later, Greer also says: “We have Barack Obama, the auto king, we have Barack Obama, the banker, soon to be Barack Obama, the doctor; we don’t need Barack Obama, the schoolteacher.”

The rightwing in …
The rightwing in this country is so paranoid, divisive, stubborn, selfish, contemtuous, and often times hateful and just plain nasty. The Leftwing has its own issues but they pale in comparison to what the right is doing.
All obama meant by “help the president” is that by staying in school, listening to your parents, doing your homework etc are part of your civic duty, and something kids can do RIGHT NOW to better our country.
The spin that the right did is stunning and embarrasing

The GOP is SOOO desperate to demonize the “big scary black man” whose IQ is orders of magnitude higher than theirs that they criticize him for inspiring children? What’s next? The color of his shorts? Oh wait, they already did that.

It’s common sense, …
It’s common sense, if President Obama added Van Jones as a Green Czar, and Mark Lloyd as the FCC Czar, etc. etc. Having 33+ Czars now is crazy, then LOOK AT THEIR RESUMES and you don’t think parents should be concerned with President Obama’s last minute school speech to our kids. Look at history, Look at our President’s views, look at our President’s Czars. 2+2=4

Students also had a …
Students also had a right to chose not to do them
No republican has presented evidence that students would be punished for not doing the plans.
This is just the loony republicans feeding that grotesque lie, that Obama = hitler.
And also to provide justification for future violent crimes against the president or his supporters.
If the president = hitler, then democrats = Nazis, and all americans who agree with the president are Nazis or Nazi sympathisers.
The language was carefully chosen

Get your head out of your and try to use your brain for once in your life. That’s not what she was saying. Her point was even though she had to say the pledge every day, nobody cared, nobody complained, and nobody was traumatized because of it. But when Obama announces that he wants to make a speech to the American school children about the importance of education, the Republicans are acting like it’s gonna make the whole world blow up. Thank God it won’t be long before they all die out.

It was never about …
It was never about the lesson plans. They were always never more than suggestions. All of the teachers still had the right to choose not to use them.
