I am doing a lesson plan on the solar system for 2-4 graders. Does anyone have an idea on what i can do for a math lesson involving space/solar system? i was going to do how things weigh different on each planet but they can not multiply decimals yet. Thanks for the help!

Try the activity on the website below - called "Pocket Solar System". Also one called "2 inch Solar system". Will try to find the sites and put them in.

I remember doing this in class when I was about 7, and it was heaps of fun! Only problem is you need a big space, a school firld or something like that. Make little balls out of paper-mache or something similar (don’t make them too big or the next step won’t work), and give them the same size ratios to each other that real planets have. Then you can spread them out proportionally the right distances from each other and the sun. This is a lot of fun, and helps give kids an understanding of just how big things in space really are!
